Two hundred and seventy one staff members and clients took part in the five Bank Windhoek Blood Donation Clinics held throughout the year during March, May, July, October and December, potentially saving 813 lives, as one unit can save three lives. The fifth and last clinic was held on Thursday, 5 December and Friday, 6 December at Bank Windhoek Main Branch and the Vehicle and Asset Finance Branch in Ausspannplatz.
The Blood Donation Clinic is an initiative between Bank Windhoek and the Namibia Blood Transfusion Services (NAMBTS) to encourage staff members and clients to support NAMBTS by donating blood.

“With the festive season approaching and the high number of accidents recorded during this period, it is important for every Namibian to donate blood to alleviate the shortage of blood supply in Namibian health institutions during the festive season. We are grateful to our staff members and clients who took the time out of their busy schedules to donate blood to save lives”, said Marjolize Scholtz, Corporate Wellness Consultant at Bank Windhoek. According to the National Road Safety Council (NRSC), 83 accidents have occurred since the launch of the Festive Season Road Safety Campaign on 22 November 2013, with 194 injuries and five fatalities. Namibia has an annual average of 15 000 accidents and 500 fatalities countrywide.
