Raving Summer House Festival
Namibian artists K-Boss, the Dogg, Dixon and Mushe together with South African DJs, Vetkuk and Mahoota of ‘Via Orlando fame’ as well as Kwaito and House artist, Professor, performed at the show.
Vetkuk and Mahoota stole the show when they played their famous song ‘Via Orlando’ as well as their other hits.Kwaito artist Professor who had every reason to celebrate after winning the Most Gifted Kwaito Video award at the Channel O Africa Music Awards, had the crowd screaming and on their feet when he performed his hit songs, ‘Jezebel’ and ‘Finger Prints’.
Speaking to the Economist, Social Media & Communications Consultant at Media.Exec, Ockert Jansen said the event was very successful. “Yes the event was quite successful and the organisation and logistics was spot on. The attendance were just as high as anticipated, but was higher than average”.
Jansen also said there were no real challenges when it came to hosting the event, except for not having enough sponsors to fund the event. “Planning a major event like this took a lot of capital and we hope that next year we can have more sponsors on board as we wish to grow our brand together with the sponsors”.
The Summer House Festival is anticipated to be an annual event depending on sponsorships and partnerships in the years to come. Ockert said the organisers will have a postmortem meeting soon to decide whether the show will become an annual event or not. “It is a bit premature to say what our next strategy will be. But our slogan says’ “taking house music to the next level’ and through this we will plan and strategise to ensure whatever we do, we live up to our slogan.”
