The Namibia Education Transformation Fund was launched this week in the capital and the Honourable Dr.David Namwandi, Minister of Education delivered the keynote address.
In his speech, Dr Namwandi said, ‘’It is indeed a privilege to join you today for the launch of the Namibia Education Transition Fund. I firmly believe that education is a joint venture. I also deem initiatives such as this critical to take education forward in line with the goals of the national development plans.’’

He said, ‘’This initiative is very timely because it comes at the time when the Ministry of Education is in the midst of implementing universal primary education. This transition fund programme is well-aligned to our efforts to provide free and compulsory primary education, our constitutional obligation, to all children in Namibia, wherever they live in this beautiful country!’’
Dr Namwandi continued to say that we must all move in the same direction following the same map. Each of the partners in education has a unique comparative advantage and should use it to optimally benefit the Namibian child.
‘’Since Independence in 1990, our government has demonstrated unwavering commitment to education by consistently allocating at least 22% of the national budget to education. This is above the internationally recognised average of 20% for success.’’ said Dr Namwandi.
The Education Transition Fund will mobilise addition resources and technical assistance to: Enhance the capacity and efficiency of the governance and accountability system of  the education sector at all levels; accelerate access to quality early childhood development and education; restore the professional status of teachers – highly motivated to deliver quality education equal to global standards; ensure that all Namibian children, regardless of their social and economic background have equal access to quality education.
