Success at the Katuka Mentorship ceremony

Bernada Ndjundju Tjipita, Marketing Assistant at Woermann & Brock won the first spot for the 2013 Katuka Mentees. Katuka, a mentorship programme launched by the late Lena Markus a former Namibian Businesswoman of the year, aims to empower and encourage entrepreneurs, business and professional women to achieve success in their careers through mentorship by seasoned business and professional women. The Katuka Mentorship Certificate Ceremony was held at Nice Restaurant and Bar on Tuesday this week.

The aim of the ceremony was to award mentors and mentees for their hard work through out the year and for them to meet the new mentors and mentees for 2014.The Programme is about matching a mentee and mentor with similar personal and professional interest in a process of support, sharing and learning. The Katuka Mentorship programme has had a lot of success especially with Ms Tjipita, who is now the Marketing Manager for Woermann Brock Retail and Wholesale Group and is also on the Marketing Committee to promote the newly built Khomas Grove Mall in Funky town, Khomasdal. Her business idea and plan got a grant from the International Women’s Association Namibia (IWAN) with their Womens Advanced Training/Investment Fund (WAT/IF) to assist her with starting her own digital marketing agency and her first project for the new firm will be to take part in the Young Creative Network/British Broadcasting Cooperation (YCN/BBC) Creative Challenge 2013.
Bernada Tjipita was amongst one of the mentees awarded certificates for completing the programme successfully. Speaking on behalf of the Patron of The Katuka Mentorship Programme Senior Communications Officer at Namdeb Anne-Nora Lameck said, The Katuka Mentorship Programme has produced significant results in the careers of the participating mentees and that at Katuka women are not victims but agents of change and drivers of progress.
