End of term for City office bearers

The term of office of the currently serving City of Windhoek office bearers will end on 01 December 2013. The office bearers are those city council member elected internally by the council to serve as mayor, deputy mayor and as the five members of the management committee. According to City of Windhoek Mayor, Her Worship Agnes Kafula, the elections of new office bearers will take place at a special council meeting to be held on 02 December 2013. She said, this is a legal requirement in conformity with the Local Authority Act; 23 of 1992, which states that the office bearers will only serve for a period of one year.
“The serving team of office bearers took office on 02 December 2012,” she said.
“I should therefore also inform our residents that the last ordinary council meeting for the year 2013, will be held on 21 November 2013,” added Kafula.
