Saturday, 09 November will determine who rules the beach at the Kia Namibia National Beach Volleyball Tour event of the year. This last event of the year is played in a King / Queen and Prince of the Beach format, where players enter as individuals and team up with different partners throughout the competition.
This tournament will determine the top players on the Namibian Beach Volleyball Tour in the men’s, ladies and youth/social category.
The most versatile players who are able to adapt to different partners quickly will end up on the podium at the DTS Beach Volleyball Arena.
In the men’s division, Achim Lück is expected to use his experience of playing with many different partners. He is definitely considered as one of the favourites for this tournament, which is sponsored by Maerua Superspar.
He currently leads the National Tour Rankings with a seven point lead over the Namibian U21 national team players, Tin Hlupic and Gerard Fischer.
In the ladies category, Anita Kinder is considered as one of the best all-rounders on the court, and with a win she would clinch the Kia National Tour overall standings.
She will however be under pressure, as the ladies category boasts many experienced players who could claim the top spot.
The players in the youth / social category have significantly less experience and this leaves the playing field open to a surprise victory.
Arne Putensen, who currently leads the category ranking, is confident ahead of the event. Mark Brinkmann is only three points adrift on the ranking, so the pressure is on for both of them for the overall win of the season.
Meanwhile the 4-a-side event which is played on the football field alongside the beach volleyball arena, will be played in the normal format and promises to be good fun once again.
