Kraatz Marine, a subsidiary in the O&L Group, donated 110 packets of popular Lucky Star canned fish to the Erongo Regional Council to support the council with its drought relief efforts for affected rural communities.
The donation was received by the Governor of the Erongo Region, Hon. Cleophas Mutjavikua, on behalf of the government.  The Kraatz Marine Workers Committee identified the Erongo Regional Council as the recipient of the donation to ensure distribution of the canned fish to the affected rural constituencies.
“We know that the drought has really taken its toll on numerous people, their crops and their livestock.  We have also learned about children who have died as a result of malnutrition.  In a country such as ours this should not be happening and we sincerely hope that our donation will assist those that have been afflicted so severely by the drought,” said Johannes Kangandjera, General Manager: Human Capital at Kraatz Marine.
Kangandjera added that with the O&L Group’s purpose “Creating a future, enhancing life”, this can only be done when in tough times people stand together and help each other.
“We also call on and challenge other companies to make a contribution thereby assisting in creating a future for all Namibians – young and old” he said.
