The Christina Swart-Opperman AIDS Orphan Foundation Trust celebrated its first ten years as a charity, this week Thursday.  The anchor event was a fundraising gala dinner supported by Namibia Breweries Limited.
This took place at the Safari Hotel. The CSO Aids Orphan Trust is known for its support of vulnerable children in the Katutura community.  It raises funds on behalf of several institutions and help ensure proper sustenance at these centres.
It also runs a career programme, taking learners to various businesses where they can learn about training and career opportunities.
“As one of the supporters of the Trust, Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) is glad to celebrate the contribution this trust has made to enhance the lives of orphans and vulnerable children.
The vision of the Trust is to contribute towards social reform in Namibia, whilst specific objectives are upliftment and improvement of the quality of life of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
The Trust participates in programmes supporting child education and care, as well as sustenance schemes, and psycho-social support,” the Breweries said.
The Trust raises funds by asking the business community to fund projects as part of their Corporate Social Investment and through fundraising projects. Specific values of the Trust are respecting the human dignity and rights of children, applying funds with integrity and having compassion for the poor.
