Shishani and friends at the FNNC

Namibia’s very own Asa (Nigerian afro-jazz) artist, Shishani is set to wow music lovers at the FNCC Terrace Gallery.

Namibia’s very own Asa (Nigerian afro-jazz) artist, Shishani is set to wow music lovers at the FNCC Terrace Gallery.

Singer/songwriter Shishani is returning to the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre  with an intimate acoustic concert on Friday, 08 November, accompanied by some of Namibia’s finest fellow musicians and poets.
Known for her wonderful ability to bring people together and advocate social change, Shishani will present a versatile potpourri of music and poetry at yet another concert with her Namibian“friends”.
Using her performances to raise awareness for poverty alleviation, environmental issues and social conscience, Shishani mesmerizes audiences with her soulful voice, message and stage presence.
 Previous “Shishani & Friends” shows have included renowned musicians and poets from the Windhoek scene with whom she has performed many times. This time around new collaborations will emerge featuring Jan Mohr Secondary School Choir conducted by Vernon Sawyers, Mbira artist Onai Mutizwa as well as introducing the brand new all-female band known as The Puppies.
Visual artist Foibe Amundaba is also part of the show, together with multi instrumentalist Tapz Munya and Shambo cross-over artist, Naxa Nakale.
The music career of the Netherlands based singer kick started in 2011 in Namibia.
In 2012 Shishani won the National Theatre of Namibia’s Last Band Standing competition and has been going from strength to strength since then.
Her debut album is expected to be released in December. The concert takes place at the FNCC Terrace Gallery. Entrance is N$80 in advance and N$100 at the door.
