Bank Windhoek has sponsored N$20 000 to the Namibia Ice and Inline Hockey Association (NIIHA) to host the National Inline Hockey Championship Tournament on 1 and 2 November 2013 at the SFC Rink in Swakopmund.
The National Inline Hockey Championship Tournament is the culmination of the annual inline hockey season, which included five club tournaments played between April and October this year.
Approximately 350 players from the four top qualifying teams will compete in various age groups, namely under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and the Ladies Open, Men’s Open, Men’s Masters and Ladies Masters. Four games will be played in each group and the winners will be crowned at the League Award Banquet on 2 November at the Adventure Park in Swakopmund.
“We are excited to receive the sponsorship from Bank Windhoek and we therefore look forward to using it to underpin the National Inline Hockey Championship Tournament and the League Awards Banquet. The tournament will provide the players and the teams the opportunity to showcase the sport and demonstrate that they are the best in Namibia”, said Gudrun Denker, President of NIIHA.
Bank Windhoek is committed to the development of smaller sport codes such as Inline Hockey and we believe that this sponsorship will contribute to the development of Inline Hockey as a sport in Namibia”, said Toivo Mvula, Communication Practitioner at Bank Windhoek.
