
Windhoek Country Club Bowls team kept the hopes of being crowned the champions at the second last tournament of the Windhoek league.
The Windhoek Country Club Bowls team (WCC) displayed an impressive performance when they accumulated a staggering 32 points at the second last tournament of the Windhoek League on their home turf last weekend. The team therefore kept Its hopes of being crowned the champions of the capital alive. The team got off to a perfect start by hammering the last-placed Windhoek Bowls Club 12:0 on Saturday.
On Sunday, the WCC players came up against the Eros Bowls Club, whose players were boasting with confidence after they won against log leaders TransNamib (TNBC) in their opening game. After a hard fought match, the Country Club kept an upper hand to eventually win the game 10:2. The last game of the tournament then saw the in-form team take on TransNamib, who struggled the entire weekend. The Country Club made their 100 % record perfect by defeating their rivals 10:2. Although the TransNamib Club got a mere 14 points over the weekend and therefore missed the chance to decide the championship before the last event of the season, the team remains in the driving seat. Yet, the TNBC players will have to up their game at the season finale, as Eros and Country Club are hot on their heels and will field their best teams to still catch up to the log-leader The overall standing is: starting with the team, the points then shot difference- TransNamib Bowls Club 79 119, Eros Bowls Club 64 58, Windhoek Country Club 54 -15and Windhoek Bowls Club 19 -162.
