What price freedom?

LK-SkrikPress freedom is guaranteed in Namibia and enshrined in the constitution, however, a reporter from the Economist got the fright of her life when a mob forced her to delete pictures she took at the third round of the registration and verification process of the ‘children’ of the liberation struggle. A police officer grabbed the reporter by the arm and told her she could not leave the premises until she deleted the pictures in his presence. The registration process, which is currently under way at the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sports and Culture in Katutura. started in November last year in Katima Mulilo, and is expected to end on Saturday with Khomas being the last region.
