Since the deal with the German Kempinsky group floundered, O&L Leisure had to take over the full operation, management and sales & marketing of Midgard Country Estate and Mokuti Etosha Lodge, a new management team under the guidance of Bruce Hutschison had to pioneer a new strategy for the O&L Group’s lodges in Namibia. Hutchison also steered the development of the Strand Hotel Swakopmund from scratch in record time.
The industry veteran with more than 45 years of experience in the global hotel and tourism industry brings experience spanning Europe, Africa, Indian Ocean, Middle and Far East and North America. Spearheading a dynamic team to lead O&L Leisure, Hitchison has selected a dream team of hoteliers, sales, marketing and IT specialists.
The General Manger Operations, Shepherd Chinhoi is no stranger to the Namibian hospitality industry. He worked in Zimbabwe, Europe and Namibia. Having previously managed both Midgard and Mokuti, Shepherd has a sound understanding of the industry at all levels.
O&L Leisure’s General Manager for Development, John Simpson stems from an electronic engineering background and owns a wealth of experience spanning the fields of electric engineering, IT management and project management. His versatility as project manager not only adds an important dimension to the O&L Leisure management team,in terms of the current revitalisation programs for Midgard and Mokuti but also for the new Strand Hotel Swakopmund.
Sonja Bartsch is the General Manager Finance. She brings over 20 years financial experience in various industries within the O&L Group.
An IT wizard and systems orientated General Manager for Marketing & IT, Thomas Mueller has utilised his vast experiences from working and living in 8 different countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America to contribute to Namibia’s Tourism Industry.
The two equally experienced lodge managers are Lance Hurly at Mokuti and Wikus Breytenbach at Midgard.
With a strong management team at O&L Leisure, the company is geared to deliver professional service and value for money.
