Black Sheep Street
It is not an exaggeration to say the South is nuts about Swakara sheep and Boerbok goats. These smallstock fanatics last week renamed a Keetmanshoop street, not to some obscure politician’s name, but to Swakara, or as it is fondly called by southerners, the Black Gold. At the unveiling of the new street name are, from the left, Titus Koen, Agra’s GM: Livestock; Abelene Boer, Agra’s Senior Manager: Marketing; Hon. Bernadus Swartbooi, Governor of the Karas Region; Peter Kazmaier, CEO of Agra; Dr Erold Naomab, HOD: Chemistry and Biochemistry at UNAM’s Keetmanshoop campus and Dagmar Honsbein, GM: Agra ProVision.
