Radio Energy 100 FM this week launched the Miss Energy 100FM 2013 beauty pageant. The pageant started in 2003 to raise funds for charity projects that provide educational support. Speaking at the launch Helena Ngaifiwa of Energy 100 FM said they were looking for an ambassador that would represent all women in Namibia and the radio Energy 100 FM brand. The pageant has been halted since the last Miss Energy 100 FM was crowned in 2006. After a seven  year absence on the social calender the pageant has been revived and promises to be even bigger and better than before. The station will use this year’s Miss Energy 2013 beauty pageant as a platform to take a stand against gender violence.
The pageant is sponsored by Hemline, the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN), the Villager newspaper, Dinapama, Kiyola Media Group, Gadgets Namibia, Hilton Hotel, Omalaeti and Nawa zone.
Miss Energy 100 FM 2005 Tusnelda Shimi said being crowned queen was a once in a lifetime opportunity for her. “I am grateful to God, my family and friends and to Radio Energy for the support during my reign. The winner of this year’s pageant needs to be energetic, courageous and show determination in all her tasks”. The closing date for entries is on 17 September after which scouting for 10 finalists will start. The names of the finalist will be announced on 23 September.
Entry forms are available from Energy, Young Ones in Swakopmund and Nelao Photography in Walvisbay.
