Online concert to mark 250 years of Beethoven slated for weekend

Swakopmund-based Trio Feminale will host an online concert celebrating 250 years of Beethoven on 03 October..

Trio Feminale is made up of three female musicians; Christiane Ast (piano), Christa Lambrechts (violin) and Susann Kinghorn (cello). They will perform works from Beethoven or Toselli (arranged by Uwe Rossler) live from the Haus der Jugend in Swakopmund. At the heart of the performance will be the Piano Trio Opus 1 No. 2 in G major by Beethoven.

The event, funded by the German Embassy in Namibia coincides with the 30th German National Day, the day of German unity.

This year marks marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, the most frequently performed classical composer in the world and one of the most important ambassadors for European culture.

The concert is the second of a concert series organized by the German Embassy Windhoek to honour the musical oeuvre of Ludwig van Beethoven. One more concert will follow in December 2020 and be announced in due course.

Trio Feminale’s concert will be livestream on the official Facebook page of German Embassy Windhoek.
