‘Trophy’ appointed as Hangala Capital’s new MD

Hangala Group recently announced the appointment of Trofimus (Trophy) Shapange as the new Managing Director of Hangala Capital, effective from 1 October.

He brings to the position a wealth of knowledge and an array of experience in the financial services industry. Shapange is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institution of Chartered Accountants of Namibia as well as the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration, from Herriot-Watt University, Scotland, Bachelor of Commerce Honours from the University of Kwazulu Natal and Bachelor of Accounting from University of Namibia.

Shapange started his career at PwC Namibia in 2006 and has over 14 years experience in Assurance and Business Advisory Services providing external audit to major clients mainly in the financial services industry. He was admitted as the financial services partner of PwC Namibia on 1st July 2018.

He has excellent business experience, education, good understanding of the Namibian financial services industry and the drive to help us take Hangala Capital to the next level of growth and development,” said Dr Leake S Hangala, Executive Chairman of Hangala Group.

Hangala Capital is the financial services arm of Hangala Group with asset management and private equity offerings. Hangala Capital has teamed up with Prescient Investment Management and Prescient Fund Services whereby these 2 companies provide portfolio and administration management service in asset management offerings.

On the private equity side, Hangala Capital has secured N$500 million debt mandate from GIPF to fund infrastructure in areas of transport and logistics, water, energy telecommunications, education, agriculture as well as health infrastructure.
