Namibia Breweries announced it is sponsoring two cancer institutions with a total donation of N$90,000. Breweries MD, Wessie van der Westhuizen said N$30,000 is for the Cancer Association for cancer awareness while a further N$5000 per month for one year, goes to the Dr AB May Oncology Clinic.
“This [donation] is to assist with the medical treatment received by many people diagnosed with cancer from all regions in Namibia,” he said.
“Many of us know of someone or know somebody that has cancer, is fighting against or has succumbed to this dreaded disease. This disease indiscriminately attacks young, old, rich, poor, healthy or sick people – there seems to be no distinction and often – while preventable – many people are diagnosed with some form of cancer despite having lived a healthy and happy life,” van der Westhuizen said.
CEO of the Cancer Association, Reinette Koegelenberg thanked Namibia Breweries for their continued support to the association and said they look forward to many more years of great partnership with Namibia Breweries.
