The third leg of the Old Mutual Victory Races kicked off in Keetmanshoop on 13 July 2013.  A total of 880 participants, the highest in 13 years, competed this year. Over the past 13 years, Old Mutual’s commitment of over N$3.5 million towards these annual races has made it possible for Namibian athletes to compete within and outside the country with Old Mutual sponsoring the travel and entry fees to prestigious regional races such as the annual Two Oceans race in South Africa.
This year Old Mutual ivested N$ 500 000 to ensure the race series. Coca-Cola, Mutual & Federal and Marathon Sugar, Business Connexion and Schoemans also contributed substantially to the annual event’s continuing success.
The Victory Races also awards monetary prizes to winners each year. This year the prizes have increased by up to 25% in some categories, and these are shared in both the male and female categories per leg.
The next race takes place on 27 July 2013 at Jan Mohr Secondary School in Windhoek.
