Meatco Board members nominees announced

Meatco this week sent out the nominations, from its members and employees, of persons to serve on the Meatco Board of Directors to the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Mr John Mutorwa, who will make the final appointments.
The new board is expected to take over from the current board at the end of August 2013 and will serve for a period of three years.
Nominations for the Meatco Board of Directors took place during the 27th Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held on 21 June 2013. Meatco members were given the opportunity to vote for individuals to represent the interests of the communal farmers, commercial farmers, as well as individuals possessing expertise in the management of abattoirs, trading of livestock and livestock products or any business or financial sphere.
To ensure transparency and credibility of results, voting was done by means of a secret ballot, in full view of the current Meatco Board and the Company Secretary, with the assistance of the corporation’s external auditors; PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). All cast ballots were collected and counted by PwC afterwards.
As per the Minister’s request, and in accordance with Section 5 (1) (c) of the Act, six persons have been nominated by Meatco members to represent the interests of Communal Farmers. Urib Charles, Mbapaha Gabriel Uaisana, Kazongominja Peter, Hukura Israel, Kandando Ngoree, //Gawases Tsukhoe. To represent the interests of Commercial Farmers .Metzger Diethelm, Bohitile Clara Gasebewe, Heger Frank Joachim, Uaendere Gottfried Mbahimua, Seifart Edith Marianne and
Hoff Egbert Otto Eugen have been nominated.
