Manica kindles zest for science
The top performers in Biology at schools in Walvis Bay enjoyed the privilege of an educational dolphin cruise arranged by Manica Group Namibia to instil an appreciation of the diverse marine life off the coast. “We invited Dr Simon Elwen, a zoologist of the University of Pretoria who studies dolphins to give the learners some insight on the work of the Namibian Dolphin Project. We wanted to give the learners the opportunity to experience firsthand what the researchers do and to ask and learn more about our local marine life,” said PR manager for Manica, Nolito Marques. The learners were lucky to spot a Gray whale as well as the familiar Heavisided dolphin. Manica has donated N$10,000 to the Namibian Dolphin Project.
