Cooking up a storm

It is not everyday one meets a young lady that is not obsessed with being the best-dressed girl in town but instead, dreams of becoming the next Nigella Lawson. The Namibia Chefs Association this week held a Table Tasting event as part of their Chef of the Year competition. Hopeful young chefs gathered at the Windhoek Afrikaans Private School to entertain judges with their best culinary dishes. Eighteen year old Chantel Kesslau who is also a grade 12 learner at the school submitted her most delectable culinary delights. “It is the second time that I am participating. I draw my inspiration from Guy Fieri and Gordon Ramsey” said Kesslau. Cooking is not just a chore for the young lady it is a passion as she intends to become a master chef by studying for a Bachelor of Technology degree in Hospitality and Food and Beverage at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town next year.
