Old Mutual in conjunction with Sister Annemie Higgs held the Baby & Toddler Seminar on 08 and 15 June in Walvis Bay and Windhoek, respectively. The main speaker, Melodie De Jager, BabyGym Institute South Africa founder, addressed the audience on brain development in babies and how the first year of a child’s life affects development later on in life.
Old Mutual sponsored the event as well as another N$10,000 in the form of a SmartMax Education Policy as a prize. The winner of the SmartMax Education Policy is Lucia Hamukoto who aspires to open her own kindergarden soon. Her prize was presented by Hilmar von Lieres, an Old Mutual Personal Financial Adviser. He said “as a socially responsible organisation, we are cognisant of the skills shortages in engineering, medicine and many [other disciplines]” adding that at Old Mutual they believe that “our responsibility as a corporate citizen encompasses fostering and cultivating opportunities for the future leaders of our country and present.”
