Several leading local manufacturers were rewarded for their excellence last week at the first Manufacturer of the Year Awards. Ohorongo Cement from Otjiwarongo was selected the overall winner from several categories where the cement maker faced some stiff competition. Before being chosen for the grand award, Ohorongo first showed its mettle by winning the categories for Best New Manufacturer, Best Corporate Manufacturer, and Environment Most Friendly Manufacturer.
The awards gala dinner was graced by the presence of the Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Calle Schlettwein while strategic guru and scenario expert Clem Sunter delivered the keynote address.
Sunter’s speech focused on “The world and Southern Africa beyond 2013 – the latest scenarios, flags and probabilities and the potential effect and opportunities for the Namibian processing and manufacturing sector.”
The NMA expressed its sincere gratitude towards the sponsors: Airport Lodge, Bidvest Fisheries, Elso Holdings, FNB Holdings Namibia, Fatima Plastics, Mpact Namibia, Namib Mills, Namibia Breweries Limited, Peralin Paints, Plastic Packaging and Walvis Bay Salt Refiners.
