Teachers remain duty-bound from 20 April to 4 May – Ministry
The Ministry of Education Arts and Culture has urged all staff members, especially teachers and institutional workers currently, away from their duty stations to remain where they are and to refrain from travelling.
Sanet Steenkamp, Executive Director of the Ministry said they should note that no travel permits will be issued in this regard.
“Teachers as professionals, remain duty-bound from 20 April to 4 May. This period should be used effectively and productively towards preparing relevant learning material content,” explained.
She asked teachers and institutional workers who are already at their duty stations, and who wish to access and operate from school facilities for the purpose of preparation, should adhere to the World Health Organisations (WHO) hygiene, sanitation and social distancing protocols.
Steenkamp further expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders, key role players, partners and staff member for their invaluable input and continued support towards the education sector. “Further Ministerial Directives will still be issued in due course, therefore, let us proceed to work towards best practices and adopt a calm, yet focused attitude to ensure that education continuous,” she concluded.
