Castle Lager sponsors one million towards COSAFA Cup

Castle lager has made an official announcement of its involvement in the 2013 COSAFA cup that will take place in Zambia next month.
At an event that took place in Windhoek this week, Castle lager announced that they will sponsor the COSAFA cup to a tune of N$ 1 million. John Muinjo, President of the Namibia Football Association, who is also a member of the COSAFA (Confederation of Southern Africa Football Associations) executive committee said that the winning team will receive N$500 000; the runners up will receive N$250 000; the third placed team N$125 000 and the Plate competition winners N$100 000.The top goal scorers in the two competing groups will also receive N$15 000 each, while the Player of the Tournament, the Goalscorer of the Tournament and the Goalkeeper of the Tournament will each receive N$10 000. There will also be a journalist award of N$10 000 and a photographer award of N$5 000.
The competition will see 12 southern African countries as well as Kenya competing in Zambia from July 6 to 20. Equitorial Guinea pulled out of the competition because of lack of travel sponsorship from their government.
After thanking Castle lager for their sponsorship, Muinjo had this to say about COSAFA
“COSAFA, in conjunction with FIFA, have actively been involved in educational courses for referees, coaches and administrators. It also organised a workshop, attended by eight countries, to tackle match fixing.”
The Secretary General of the Namibia Football Association, Barry Rukoro also thanked Castle for their sponsorship. He also urged the nation to support the Namibian national soccer team during its participation in the COSAFA tournament. “The Brave Warriors are leaving on a mission to represent their country and they need our support”, he said “This is our team, the national team of Namibia”
