NSI raises more awareness on NQP

The Namibian Standards Institution (NSI) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) last week held a stake holders workshop on the National Quality Policy (NQP) and the National Quality Infrastructure (NQI). The workshop was held with the aim of sensitising and raising awareness on the provisions of the NQP, to ensure coherence of the related policies on the technical regulations, consumer protection and food safety with the NQP and to map out implementation strategies for the NQP.
Senior officials from the public and private sectors, policy planning and decision makers, quality practitioners, conformity assessment providers, experts from research and tertiary institutions and non governmental organisations attended the workshop.
Speaking at the workshop Chief Executive Officer of the Namibian Standards Institution Riundja Kaakunga said that the country’s export performance need to be enhanced as Namibia is faced with challenges form market demand.
He also urged Namibian companies to register to take part in the SADC Quality Awards which are the regional version of the National Quality Awards which will take place on 4 September this year. More than 13 companies will participate in the award ceremony.
