Hosea Kutako Airport congestion expected to be alleviated by September

The Chairperson of Namibia Airports Company (NAC) Dr Leake Hangala said the Hosea Kutako Congestion Alleviation Project is in the works and expected to be concluded by September.

The project, which is expected to alleviate the congestion challenges in the terminal building and apron at the Hosea Kutako International Airport within the short term.

Similarly, the project is also aimed at doubling the handling capacity of the airport to increased passenger movements up until 2030.

Hangala, who was speaking at a press briefing this week said that government through the Ministry of Works and Transport allocated funding amounting to N$155 million complemented by N$95 million from the Airports company own coffers towards the project.

Meanwhile, as part of the airports company’s capital projects being implemented is the Eros Airport runway rehabilitation, which is expected to complete by end of May this year.

According to Hangala, the project has been placed on a public bidding process which is due to close on 4 February.
