Windhoek Mayor moves her office to Babylon

Her Worship Fransina Kahungu, Mayor of the City of Windhoek held a mayoral public engagement, developments and public safety statistics meeting, for Windhoek during the festive season, this week.

Her Worship informed that this year her office has resolved to intensify efforts to find innovative solutions towards bringing services closer to the residents and one of the approaches that they have embraced is the need for Councilors to be more visible to the electorate.

“As a result of this approach, I am pleased to inform our esteemed residents that the Office of the Mayor has been relocated to the municipality’s Nathanael Maxuilili Community Centre in Babylon, in which we are now as from 20 January,” she said.

Kahungu said that this arrangement will be in force for the during of her term of office as the Mayor of Windhoek, therefore, residents are hereby informed that all the appointments with her will be attended to from there, while the office of the Deputy Mayor will remain at the head office.

“It is paramount that I share this years plan with the public and other developmental partners and I am currently busy finalizing the said plan and will share it in due course,” she added.

Regarding statistics for the festive season period, she said 195 cases of domestic violence were reported including four murders, 122 motor vehicle accidents were reported with 36 injuries and three fatalities, 61 cases of noise pollution were reported and shebeen related topped the list.
