Finance Ministry to host 27th East and Southern African Association of Accountants General Annual International Conference

The Ministry of Finance will host the 27th East and Southern African Association of Accountants General (ESAAG) Annual International Conference from 27 to 31 January in Swakopmund.

ESAAG is a regional Association of Accountants General currently consisting of 14 member countries: four in the East (Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda) and ten in the South (Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe).

Finance Ministry’s Chief PRO, Tonaleni Shidhudhu this week said the Conference will be officially opened bythe Finance Minister, Calle Schlettwein and various speakers that include a renowned Kenyan Academic Professor Patrick Lumumba among others are lined during the five-day event.

“The 2020 theme is Rethinking Public Financial Management (PFM) reforms to accelerate economic growth, which is so befitting as the member countries are either experiencing minimal or low growth,” he added.

The conference is a networking and information sharing platform that allows accountants and other professionals to meet and learn from each other in various PFM disciplines, with 2020 being the 27th edition.
