Last Saturday AREVA hosted a Walk & Run for Fun. The event consisted of a 2 or 5 km walk (with lucky draws as prize money) and a 10 or 20 km run.
The categories for the 10 & 20 km run were Open Junior, Veteran and Masters. Cash prizes for the 20 km first – N$700, second N$500 and third N$300. Winners in the 10 km run received N$500, N$300 and N$200 respectively, sponsored by AREVA Namibia.
Erich Goeieman, sponsored by AREVA Namibia for the past 3 years, notched up his second victory for this year in the AREVA Walk & Run for Fun when he won the 20 km veteran category.
Goeieman led from the start to complete the 20 km run in one hour 12 minutes 44 seconds to finish more than 2 minutes 46 seconds ahead of Daniel Suzuki (Khomas NamPol club) who came second in 1:14:50.
Altogether 88 runners and 60 walkers have entered the fun event. Entries from as far as Gobabis and Oshakati were received.
