Gwashamba Mall opens in Ongwediva

Safland will officially open the Gwashamba Mall in Ondangwa this weekend.
The opening of the Gwashamba Mall comes a month after the property services group opened one of its other malls in the northern parts of the country, the Town Square Mall in Otjiwarongo.
“The Gwashamba Mall covers 11,315 square metres and has been built at a cost of N$140 million. More than 40 new shops will be open to the public and it is estimated that business through the mall will inject a yearly amount of about N$21 million into the local economy. We are extremely excited about this new venture and know that it will boost our Northern regions,” said Kallie van der Merwe, CEO of Safland.
During the construction phase more than 360 people worked on the site. Safland said it has deliberately tried only to make use of local talent and suppliers, as far as possible. The mall includes Shoprite, Jet Stores, Mr Price, Foschini, Markhams, Exact, Fashion Express, Hungry Lion, Dunns, Pep Stores, Ellerines and Clicks. Gwashamba will offer approximately 350 new employment opportunities.
Safland Namibia said in a statement it has invite everyone at the North to join them on 01 June at the new mall for the official opening. The retail shops offer many specials while an outside broadcast promises lots of fun and entertainment for young and old.
Other projects currently in the Safland pipeline include the Grove Mall in Kleine Kuppe, Windhoek and another exiting project in Ondangwa.
