Old Mutual Victory race: Bigger and Better

Old Mutual launched the 13th annual Old Mutual Victory Race Series this week. The highly anticipated annual event has featured prominently as one of the largest road running events in the country and this year at least 2000 participants are expected to take part in the race. Old Mutual has over the past 13 years invested N$ 3.5 million in the race and this year alone they have invested N$ 500 000. Other sponsors for the event include Coca Cola, who have been sponsoring the event for seven years and will be the official soft drink sponsor for the event. Both Mutual & Federal and Marathon Sugar, contributed N$ 40 000 whilst Business Connexion sponsored four laptops to the value of N$39 000 which will be allocated to the school with highest entry in each town. A photocopier machine valued at N$9000 was sponsored by Schoemans for the school with highest overall entry. Prizes for the race series have increased by 25% in some categories with the overall victory race winners for both female and men first place walking away with N$15 000, second place with N$10 000 and third place with N$ 5000. Junior Winners for both male and female will each win N$ 12 000.Two Sports Development bursaries for learners worth N$12 000 will be awarded at the end of the race series. The Victory Race series kicks off at Oshakati on 1 June and will move to Swakopmund on 22 June. The southern leg will take place in Keetmanshoop on 13 July and the finals will take place in Windhoek on 27 July 2013
