Will Esterhuizen, 2011 and 2012 Champion is once again one of the favourites at this year’s National Bowls Championships.

The national lawn bowls tournament 2013 will start this coming Saturday at four different venues in Windhoek and action will continue until 11 May. This prestigious event is held annually to ensure the development of all Namibian players.
Namibia has seven bowling clubs, one situated in Tsumeb, two at the coast and four in Windhoek. A total of 92 bowlers from these clubs have entered this year’s national championships, which will be staged at all the clubs’ premises in the capital.
Eros Bowling Club is this year’s head quarters thus all finals will be played at its green. The other venues are the Windhoek Bowling Club, the TransNamib Bowling Club and the Windhoek Country Club Bowls.
The finals will commence on 11 May 2013 at 7am. The competition will be played in four different disciplines, namely singles, pairs, triplets and fours. As winner of the two previous Champions competitions, Will Esterhuizen of the TransNamib Bowling Club is once again tipped as the top favourite participant in this year’s national championship along with Mitch Voigts from the coastal Rossmund Bowling club. The top seeded women include Sheena du Toit and Lesley Vermeulen.
