Farms for San resettlement

The “destitute” San community living around the Oshivelo Veterinary Gate will be resettled next week following the acquisition of two farms by the government.
In a statement released Thursday, the Office of the Prime Minister announced that it had acquired   farm Ondera No.308 and farm Kumewa No.1072 in the Oshikoto region with the assistance of the Ministry of Lands and Resettlement.
Deputy Prime Minister, Marco Hausiku is expected to officiate at a handover ceremony of the two farms next week Tuesday. The farms have a combined size of 7147 hectares.
The government said it believes that access to productive land for agricultural production and residential purpose is a major factor in self-sufficiency and sustainability among marginalised communities.
