Bank of Namibia support NBIC
On 17 April 2013, the Namibia Business Innovation Centre (NBIC) received a cheque of N$ 120 000 from Bank of Namibia, during the official inauguration of the Mobile lab. Part of the money will be used to build more labs at the centre. This is the fourth time Bank of Namibia is sponsoring the centre. The Bank also sponsors one of the center’s programmes, the Business Idea Competition which is held annually since its inception four years ago. Governor of Bank of Namibia, Ipumbu Shiimi said the bank is proud of what the centre is doing especially since it is promoting entrepreneurship which is in line with the bank’s aims. NBIC aspires to be the innovation hub that sparks the interest for innovation and entrepreneurship among people from all walks of life through different programmes in place, such as workshops and individual mentoring to help people develop their innovative ideas into formalised businesses. NBIC’s programmes and incubator are rolled out in phases starting with innovation and entrepreneurship programmes and a seed incubator to establish a consistent process supporting entrepreneurs from motivation through business idea, business planning, company establishment to company growth.
