New liner calls at Walvis Bay

The first RORO (roll-on roll-off) vessel of the shipping line, Sallaum Lines, was expected to arrive in Walvis Bay on Thursday this week. Sallaum Lines is an international car shipping and RORO services company that was established in 1985 in Switzerland. Ocean Liner Services (part of the Bidvest Namibia group) has been appointed as the Port Agent for this service. The RORO vessel, CSCC Tianjin, will dock at Walvis Bay to offload vehicles, most of which are destined for Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Next month, two more ROROs of the shipping line will call on Walvis Bay. Over the years Sallaum Lines has expanded its activities to meet the needs of the world’s largest companies specialising in RORO cargo shipping including cars, vans, trucks and high and heavy equipment from Europe and USA to West African destinations. The service to Walvis Bay forms part of the Sallaum Lines’ new regular service. The General Manager of Ocean Liner Services, Jacqueline Hebbard-Ferreira, expressed her delight at the new service, adding that it “is exciting for us to be part of this new development. We welcome new lines to Walvis Bay as it remains one of the best ports along the African coast for vehicle transshipment to landlocked countries.”
