Nam-Zim to hold 9th Session of Joint Commission of Cooperation

The 9th Session of the Namibia-Zimbabwe Joint Commission of Cooperation (JCC) will be held in Windhoek, Namibia, from 22 to 24 July 2019 at Safari Court and Conference Centre.

The Ministery of International Relations and Cooperation on Friday, said senior officials from both countries will be meeting from 22-23 July, in preparation for the Ministers meeting, which is schedule for 24 July.

Hon Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, will co-chair the Joint Commission with her counterpart Retired Lt. Gen Sibusiso Moyo, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe.

The Joint Commission is expected to review the implementation of bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding in a wide range of areas, including trade and commerce, agriculture, fisheries, transport, education and training, youth, sport and culture, amongst others.

The two countries are also expected to discuss issues of mutual interest at the regional level in view of the forthcoming 39th SADC Summit, where Zimbabwe will assume the Chairmanship of the SADC Organ of Politics, Defence and Security.

Issues of mutual interest at the continental and multilateral level of interest to both countries will also receive attention during the Joint Commission. Zimbabwe hosted the 8th Session in 2017.
