Namdeb and MUN reconfirms agreement
Namdeb Management and the Mineworkers Union of Namibia (MUN) have agreed to the implementation of the 2013 wage agreement as contained in the comprehensive 2012/2014 two-year Wage Agreement. The two parties signed a re-confirmation of the agreement on 28 March 2013. The agreement conditions which came into effect as of 01 April 2013 make provision for a 7.5% increase across the board for employees in the Bargaining Unit. Provision has also been made to increase some of the allowances by 6.4% in line with the 2013 Namibian CPI. Namdeb said in a statement released of the re-confirmation that the working relationship with the union has improved significantly in the past year, with both parties working towards addressing issues of safety, productivity improvements and relationship building. A joint Labour Leadership retreat was held from 4 to 6 February where issues of common concern and interest were discussed. Significant mutual understanding was reached during this session and both parties have since continued to work in the spirit of co-operation to the benefit of the organisation.
