Hospitality industry recognises stakeholders

The Hospitality Association of Namibia hosted a networking event last week at the Windhoek Country Club Resort & Casino where stakeholders met to talk business, formulate new concepts, and ultimately celebrated the successes of the industry over past year.

During the event, the Association also gave recognition to personalities for their role in the hospitality industry. Of the 2019 Hotelier of the Year award winner Jörn Dedig, owner of the Elegant Collection, Gitta Paetzold, CEO of the Association said the winner re-invests in tourism and continuously dedicates time, capital and passion to create more style and elegance in the Namibian tourism landscape.

The Tourism Personality of the Year 2019 winner is Werner Ewald from Bannerman Resources Namibia, who Paetzold describes as a man who goes out of his way to assist in tourism route infrastructure development, buys into initiatives of tourism without benefit or return for himself or his company.

Meanhile, the HAN Personality of the Year 2019 went to Ruggero and Simone Micheletti, who the Association recognized for their dedication to build up eco-tourism services in one of the most remote parts of Namibia. “They have sacrificed their private lives and living standards to develop tourism to benefit the respective local communities, and thereby creating a means of income and skills development for the people.”
