Football fanatics set for thrilling Afcon Finals – Dstv, Gotv shake-up broadcast standards

With first-class analysts to assess a first-class tournament, the looming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt will set new broadcast standards on DStv and GOtv for the event.

A host of big names from African soccer, from Jay Jay Okocha to Joseph Yobo and Laryea Kingston, have been roped in to ensure that Afcon 2019 is more than a mere spectacle of soccer action.

DStv and GOtv viewers can look forward to analysis, background stories, colour pieces and breaking news, ensuring that SuperSport is the destination of choice for the continent’s soccer lovers.

Each match on DStv’s SS7 and GOtv’s Select 4 will include a one-hour build-up, plus a post-match wrap designed to give fans the full picture. Selected matches will also broadcast on DStv’s SS8 and SS10, while GOtv viewers can catch selected matches on Select 2 and Select 5.

SuperSport will also deliver the coverage in several language options for football fans across the continent, including Portuguese (Angola and Mozambique); Pidgin (Nigeria) and Swahili (East Africa).

Moreover, SuperSport will have crews on hand to document the activities in each group to ensure fans are kept in the know about whatever happens off the field.

In-the-field reporters include Thato Moeng (SA), Chizom Ezeoke (Nigeria), James Wokabi (Kenya) and Silvio Ivan Capuepe (Angola). Frontline studio presenters will be Carol Tshabalala, Mozes Priaz, Julia Stuart, Neil Andrews and Lwazi Ziqubu.

Guest analysts have been drawn from all over the continent, among them Africa’s soccer legend, Okocha alongside decorated former South African national team coach, Pitso Mosimane, plus Musa Otieno (Kenya), David Obua (Uganda), Yobo (Nigeria), Tinashe Nengomashe (Zimbabwe), Kingston (Ghana), Teko Modise (SA), Shaun Bartlett (SA) and Oliveira Goncalves (Angola, Maximo) on the panel.
