23 minutes for free groceries

A major highlight of last weekend’s Plate of Namibia chefs competition, was a trolley race that challenged twenty shoppers to find 23 Team Namibia ingredients inside the Auas Valley Pick n Pay  within a 23-minute deadline. Annette Starke from Windhoek was the lucky winner of the race and won an A500 Tablet (with 16GB wi-fi), sponsored by Simpology. Other hampers given to the public who purchased Team Namibia products in-store were sponsored by Namib Mills, Closwa Biltong, Namibia Quality Beverages, Naukluft Water, Namibia Dairies, Namibia Breweries (Vigo), Bokomo Foods Namibia, Camelthorn Brewing, Mama’s and Desert Hills Farming and Cooking. The trolley race proved to be the most popular event among the hundreds of people who flocked to Auas Valley to see the best chefs in action. Lizette Foot, General Manager of Team Namibia commented: “Team Namibia enjoyed hosting this event with Namibian food and drink. In the spirit of Independence, we aimed to demonstrate how Namibian products and services can be enjoyed as part of everyday life. I would particularly like to thank all the contestants who entered this competition to help raise awareness of the wide variety of dishes that can be created with truly Namibian products.”
