First National Bank Namibia has generously provided a N$100,000 sponsorship for the forthcoming College of the Arts musical production, Meme Mia!.
Rector of the College of the Arts Erina Junius said the financial institution’s involvement in the production of the musical is highly appreciated as it will help cover the costs of staging the production.
Meme Mia is intended to be the flagship production for the College of the Arts. A further aim is to raise funds for the College of the Arts Scholarship Fund. Meme Mia is the Namibian version of the ‘Mama Mia’ musical of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father through the hit songs of the popular 1970’s pop group ABBA.
Chairperson of the FNB Foundation, Jane Katjavivi said one of the focus areas of the foundation is heritage and culture and that the musical is such a project.
Meme Mia promises to be the biggest musical ever to be staged in Namibia thus far and will feature the most talented cast of professional dancers, singers and actors. The dazzling ensemble includes Lize Ehlers, Tuli Shityuwete, Sean K, Cynthia Shimming, Guichont Bikoumou and Bonny Pereko.
The show is directed and produced by Sandy Rudd and Ndinomholo Ndilula and the choreography is by Haymish Oliver. Meme Mia will run almost a month at the National Theatre of Namibia from 07 to 20 April 2013.
