Otjiwarongo Town Square flies by 26 April
The final and third phase of construction at what is now known as the Otjiwarongo Town Square is expected to be completed on 26 April, that is when it will be fully let.
The shopping centre was expanded to increase its size from 5700 square metres to 10,600 square metres. Phase 2 of Town Square has opened on 28 November 2012.
An investment of Safland Property Services Namibia, the construction of this new shopping centre will cost about N$50million. Once operational, Town Square will create more than 190 new employment opportunities.
“Yes, the construction is on schedule to open the third phase of the centre on the 26th of April 2013,” said newly appointed MD of Safland, Desmond van Jaarsveld.
According to van Jaarsveld, the shopping centre will offer the people of the town and the district a choice of “great brands under one roof”, with safe facilities comparing with international standards.
He said, local SME’s have been and are still in the process of being sourced to provide support services such as security, cleaning, maintenance, etc.
“A brand new vendor area has been constructed that will be handed over to the local municipality for leasing to traders to encourage and support that sector of the market.” he said.
Once open, the expanded centre will host a number of new retailers making a first appearance in Otjiwarongo including Clicks, Edgars Active, Crazy Stores, Legit, Scooters, Hungry Lion, Streethouse Clothing and Totalsports.
It will also see the merging of next-door Truworths and OK Furniture into the new structure, on top of upgraded parking and new shop fronts.
Safland Property Services Namibia, a property investment fund manages Frontier Property Trust, which in turn owns the Shoprite Centre which is now known as the Otjiwarongo Town Square. “The Otjiwarongo Town Square is set to be Safland’s first shopping centre development to be completed in the country” said van Jaarsveld.
