Klazen re-elected

Walvis-Office-BearersThe mayor of Walvis Bay, Derek Klazen was re-elected in this position at an office bearers’ election held recently. Klazen said the council will work hard to ensure the continued growth, development and prosperity of the town. “We realise that our strategic plan needs to make provision for forecasts that peer into the future at least 10 to 20 years from now. We have commissioned various studies such as the Integrated Urban Spatial Development Framework, Local Economic Development Plan, Traffic Master Plan, and others. All of these are designed to assist us in formulating a long term vision for Walvis Bay and its citizens,” he said. Klazen said providing adequate housing for low income residents is a priority for the council as close to 30 000 people live in informal settlements.
