Women entrepreneurs graduate
Old Mutual in conjunction with the Polytechnic of Namibia offered the visionary partnership since 2009 through providing fully-paid skills and capacity development via a specially devised usefulness skills programme as well as through the extention of interest free loans to the value of N$20 000 for each selected candidate.
The seven graduates undertook their training on 24 October 2011 until 31 July 2012. The women had to under go intensive training and mentorship modules which covered personal development, practical financials, leadership and ethics as well as general management.
Seven new intakes with various businesses are expected to start their training programme in February 2013.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Patty Olivier, Human Resource Executive at Old Mutual congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to be role models to society.
“Business is not an end in itself, it is a means to an end, to be able to educate children, to be able to have a better home, to be able to provide healthcare and also to build economies and create more opportunities. And you are living examples of that,” Olivier said.
