Disabled people of the Oshikoto and Tsumeb district recently benefited from a donation of 100 wheelchairs and 26 walking frames by OOCT (Ohorongo-Otavi Community Trust) and SUPPORT e.V. in Ulm, Germany.
The hand-over was done during the recent 10th Copper Festival in Tsumeb in association with the Lions Club and Tsumeb Private Hospital. Andre Neethling of the Lions Club presented the wheelchairs to Hon Lebius Tobias (MP) of Tsumeb. He thanked OOCT and SUPPORT e.V. in helping to meet the great need for equipment for the disabled in their community .
Some of the previous projects that OOCT and SUPPORT e.V. supported include amongst others the refurbishment of the Otavi playground, the renovation of the Otavi Health Clinic, the setting up of an Albino Corner, donation of hospital & specialised medical equipment, donation of sun creams and financial support to Khorab Secondary School. On a previous occasion another 100 wheelchairs and 48 walking frames were donated to the disabled in the community.
