Property sales post huge gains from very low base

Lona van Wyk has been named the Estate Agent of the Year in the central region for her contribution to the Standard Bank home loan book and Just Properties is the best agency.

Ricky Hameva and Mabel Mouton took the second and third places respectively as individual agents with Ricky Hameva Properties second and Yellow Square Properties third among the agencies.

The Estate Agent of the Year awards for the central region followed in the wake of the Estate Agents awards for the coast, held earlier in November.

While acknowledging the contribution of realtors to the bank’s lone book, the Head of Personal and Business Banking, Mercia Geises, said “It has been a pleasure working with all of you for this past year. We have had a great year and we are very pleased to be celebrating one of our most successful business units.”

“A good agent must have the tenacity to pursue every lead, and they should also have honesty and integrity… They should also be self-motivated entrepreneurs,” she said.

The Head of Home Loans, Randy Slabbert, also commended the agents and developers, pointing out that the bank’s home loans book grew 34% year on year growth in both volume and value of new business and that this achievement would not have been possible without the estate agents’ support and commitment.

“There was a 70% year on year increase in the cumulative sales value achieved for the Top Five Estate Agents nationally, while a similar trend was evident for the Top Five Estate Agencies, where a year on year growth of 90% was achieved. Both the top performing Estate Agent of the Year, and the Estate Agency of the Year, generated business in access of N$50 million,” he said.

The overall winners are sent on an all expenses paid holiday to Bali in Indonesia.
