Roots and Wings Exhibition in full swing

Roots and Wings Exhibition in full swing

Every year the Project Room holds a curated, themed group exhibition and this year it will take place under the theme ‘Roots and Wings’.

The exhibition ‘Roots and Wings’ will open on Friday 10 November at 18h00 at the Project Room in 32 Jenner Street, Windhoek West. The exhibition will conclude on 25 November.

Many artists submitted work and interpretations of the theme went from figurative to tradition, upbringing to poems and family created pieces. ‘Roots & Wings’ will combine jewelry, ceramics, photography, sculpture, painting and print as well performance and poetry.

The work of 29 artists, some well-known local artists like David Amukoto, Nicky Marais, Juliart, Rika Nel, Barbara Boelke, Lukas Amakali, Mitchell Gatsi as well as newcomer’s like Elisia Nghidishange, Mathews Alfeus, Lara Diez, Tina Basson will be on display. Some are from South Africa and again others are not artists in the traditional sense but with a thought on ‘Roots & Wings’.

Because of the large and varied amount of work this exhibition it will extend beyond the gallery space of the Project Room and will show some work and performance outside in the garden.

“We encourage everyone interested in arts and culture to come and have a look and perhaps be inspired themselves,” the organisers said.
