NBL appoints new MD

Hendrik van der WesthuizenHendrik van der Westhuizen, the current managing director of Hangana Seafood, has been appointed as the new managing director of Namibia Breweries Limited effective, 2 April 2012.
Van der Westhuizen started his working career in 1992 in the fishing industry and held various positions ranging from supervisor, senior supervisor, superintendent, production manager, factory manager, factory director, marketing director to his current position of managing director of Hangana Seafood.
During this period, he coordinated various international projects in countries such as China, Argentina and the Faroe Islands representing various fishing companies. He holds a Post Graduate Degree in Management, a BSc Degree in Operations Management and various International Diplomas in Business Management, Management Systems and Senior Management.
Says van der Westhuizen: “I am extremely humbled by the trust shown in me and thankful at the opportunity to lead NBL – its world-class brands, people and processes. I look forward to create a breakthrough environment together with the team in order to achieve the unthinkable, not only for the O&L Group but for our country as a whole. Our Group’s purpose: ‘Creating a future, enhancing life’, is very dear to me and a constant reminder that each of us has a bigger role to play in order to stay true to the stand we took to create a better future for all in order to enhance life in Namibia, for Namibia.”
Sven Thieme, executive chairman of the O&L Group of Companies will continue to act as managing director at NBL until van der Westhuizen takes over the reins in April.
